In recent years we have seen large shopping complexes spring up all over the place, very often moving our focus away from traditional town centre shopping trips. But nothing quite matches the unique atmosphere of colourful outdoor markets and each of Northamptonshire's main towns still holds weekly markets, some having held royal charters for hundreds of years.
Brackley Market
The historic weekly general market can be found in the Upper Town square outside the Town Hall each Friday. The Market's origins date back to the early 1700's when it was considered an important centre where the Town Crier announced any news or information. Although its form has changed over the years, it is still a meeting place for many people.
A varied selection of traders include: Fruit and vegetables, Shoes, Fresh Fish and shellfish, Greetings cards, Plants, bulbs and shrubs, Cakes and Sweets.

Corby Outdoor Market
Corby's outdoor market is located next to the Oasis Retail Park in Corby and offers a wide range of stalls. The market is open on Friday and Saturday
Corby Indoor Market
Corby Indoor Market is located in Corby town centre. The market has fixed units around the edge which are permanent and traditional market stalls in the centre giving a variety of products depending on the day you visit. Opening Times are Monday - Saturday 9am to 5pm, Sunday 10am to 3pm
Daventry Market
Daventry market can be found on the town's High Street. There is a wide range of stalls running each side of the High Street that offer a good selection from fish and meat to pet foods. The market has been in existence since about 1255 and has many long running traditions. Tuesday and Friday are general market days, although during holiday times additional market days are held. The road road is closed to all traffic between 5am and 6pm

Northampton Market
Held in the town's large Market Square surrounded by shops, banks and cafes, Northampton market dates back to 1235. Monday is fresh fruit, vegetables, cut flowers and plants only. Tuesday to Saturday are the general market days.

The general market in Raunds is held on Fridays in the Town Square.

Rothwell's general market is held on Mondays in the town centre.
Thrapston Market
Held on a Tuesday, Thrapston's general market has been in existence since 1205. Situated along the High Street.
Towcester Market
An antique and bric-a-brac market is held in the Town Hall on Fridays.
Wellingborough Market
A general market is held on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with a Bric-a-Brac market being held on Tuesdays. Farmers' and local produce sales are amalgamated within the general market.
The market can be found in Market Square and Pebble Lane.
